SF'S COMMUNITY CLUB SINCE 1961
The San Francisco Glens Soccer Club will be hosting tryouts for all Competitive Teams for the 2024/25 season. Tryouts are held annually and are open to any and all players interested in playing Competitive youth soccer at any level.
The club will have a spot for every child and offers every level of youth soccer available, including but not limited to MLS NEXT, USL Academy, National Premier League (NPL) Club Status, NorCal Premier Soccer, SF Youth Competitive (Upper House), and Micro Soccer. We also are affiliated with ODP via Cal North and PDP through U.S. Club Soccer, as well as Competitive Futsal through our partner club Bay City FC. We are the ONLY SF CLUB with ALL MLS NEXT age groups (U13-U14-U15-U16-U17-U19) & NPL (U13-U14-U15-U16-U17-U19), PRE NPL (U12) & USL Academy (U15-U19 Boys & U17 Girls). The Glens have been awarded Players First (P1) Club Status, a stamp of approval from U.S. Club Soccer on the club's development philosophy and execution. We are also proud to have never turned away a single family due to financial hardship thanks to our Scholarship Fund. And in 2024, we will be the first SF club with our own facility at Treasure Island. Be a part of what we're building together in San Francisco! Questions? Please visit the tryout FAQ, SF Glens Competitive program, Competitive program FAQs , Program fee page, TEAM directory to learn more about SF Glens' competitive program. If you still have questions, please feel free to email information@sfglenssc.org. |
We think of tryouts as a player placement exercise. Our coaches take a professional, detailed, and team-approach to tryout evaluations so that we can gather as many notes and opinions on a player as possible.
Please encourage your player to relax and have fun at tryouts. There are lots of coaches on hand to make sure the day is fun, and all players get a chance to play and demonstrate both their abilities and interest in the club. |

OUR PLAYER PATHWAY
At the very beginning, a Glens player can start as early as our Junior Glens Micro Soccer program, which is generally from Pre-K through 1st Grade. After Micro Soccer, the player can either join the Recreational Track (2nd through 6th Grade), or the Competitive Track.
WHAT DOES THE COMPETITIVE TRACK CONSIST OF?
The player can progress through our Competitive Leagues, which starts in SFYS Upper House (Levels A & B), then the divisions of NorCal Premier
(Bronze-Silver-Gold-State Premier), then the NPL level (U12-U19), and finally, the USL Academy (U15-U19 Boys, U17 Girls) and/or MLS NEXT (U13-U19 Boys) level,
which is the highest youth soccer level in America.

Tryout Guidelines
Tryouts are simply a part of competitive soccer and held every year between April and May for play the following fall.
We think of tryouts as a player placement exercise. Our coaches take a professional, detailed, and team-approach to tryout evaluations so that we can gather as many notes and opinions on a player as possible. We also frequently talk with families and current coaches to better understand a player's development needs.
For players already with the club and playing at the competitive level, we already know a lot about you; but, nonetheless, we recommend that some players attend the tryout so that coaches can see how current players might fit together with new ones and how potential new players do against the best players already with the club.
Please encourage your player to relax and have fun at tryouts. There are lots of coaches on hand to make sure the day is fun, and all players get a chance to play and demonstrate both their abilities and interest in the club.
And please keep in mind the following:

And please keep in mind the following:
- Any new player interested in joining our competitive programs MUST try out.
- All players MUST try out based upon their birth year. No exceptions. A player may be invited to "play up" based on his or her demonstrated ability to not only play in a older age group but make a significant impact & improvement to a team (same tier/color or higher) at that older age group. All "play up" decisions shall be at the sole discretion of the SF Glens coaching staff.
- Please keep in mind that SF Glens follows the club model and players are eligible to guestplay for an older age group team or higher level team based on the recommendation from the coach.
- All of our current players will be treated as an individual with specific needs related to his or her soccer development. Team placement is designed to offer the player the best opportunity to reach his or her potential while keeping his or her participation fun and challenging.
